Doctor Gerard Furlong is a graduate of St Bartholomew’s university. He graduated in 1992 with honours and left to start his vocation working as an aneasthetist in several hospitals around the United Kingdom.
The role of the anaesthetist is definitely an important component of delivering a good quality of healthcare to affected individuals. Ged Furlong while working as an anaesthetist was responsible for a wide range of obligations for the people that he cared for. As an anaesthetist Gerard Furlong had the chance to operate in many different fields of medicine. During his time working for the National Health Service the anaesthetist Gerard Furlong spent time in obstetrics, working in the intensive care unit at Coventry and Warwick hospital as well as a number of years on the Trauma elective infirmary in Dunganon hospital. During his career Doctor Furlong came to enjoy his work in the obstetrics ward the most soon after realising he had a special skill for giving epidurals to ladies at the business end of childbearing. Ged Furlong is a member of a variety of health-related societies. Membership of these organizations enables him to remain up-to-date with the newest improvements and advancements in the field of anaesthesia and also contribute articles to their publications. His specialist knowledge has been utilized in a number of research projects that include on the HL7 CDA implementation guide for SCATA (Society for Computers And Technology in Anaesthesia). Ged has a number of passions that he pursues when he can spare the time. These include sailing, travel and he has taken up golfing an experience that so far he has discovered to be rather frustrating.
